The Friendliest Cats in Oklahoma City

ADOPTED!

Introducing  the PAWS-OK  "Faces of Misfit Felines" Just like in the famous childrens movie ( The Island of Misfit Toys ), these cats are not "purrfect" but still deserve to be in a loving home... could it be yours?

PAWS currently has three adult cats who have tested positive for the FIV virus. This virus is species specific and can not be transmitted to humans or canines.  They require no special care, only an attentive owner, no companion non positive cats and an indoor only lifestyle. There is no reliable vaccine for FIV. FIV in Cats - FAQs www.bestfriends.org

My Name is Pam!  (FIV+)

I was born in 2020 and came to PAWS-OK directly off the streets of NW OKC. A supporter of PAWS saw me and my buddy Steve wandering her neighborhood in June 2024. She checked with neighbors and no one knew anything about us - only that we were both really friendly! After going to PAWS-OK, what they found out was that I was considerably older than my buddy Steve, that I was spayed (remnants of the stitches could still be seen!) and that I was FIV+.

Now I am biding my time in a great PAWS-OK foster home and going to events at the local A1 Pet Emporium each month to meet prospective adopters. If you are interested in me, will keep me indoor only and have a good relationship with your vet (in case I get ill) please contact PAWS-OK. I'd love to meet you!

Meet Hazel! (FIV+)

Hazel was born in November 2019 and came to PAWS-OK with her kittens from the Midwest City Shelter in July 2021. Although she tested positive for FIV, her kittens were all negative (very common). Her kittens have all found great homes and we are still looking for a home for Hazel. She accompanies us each month to our A1 Pet Emporium Meet and Greet Events. She would love to be an only cat in a great home.   If you are interested in  meeting her, come by  A1 Pet Emporium (see our scheduled events tab) or contact us.

Meet Steve! (FIV+)

I came to PAWS-OK in June 2024 with my free roaming buddy, Pam (we were named for the nice people who were caring for us), after a PAWS-OK supporter saw us. I am is little feisty but then again I am not that old (est DOB Feb 2023). PAWS-OK took me to the vet and found out I was neutered and that I was FIV+ so now I am cooling my heels in a PAWS-OK foster home until they can find me a new home. I love to play and am very active. My foster mom often wonders how I came to be palling around with a much older woman (Pam was born in 2020) but that is my secret. We have been separated since June but I could learn to love her again if someone wanted both of us!

If you are interested in me, will keep me indoor only and have a good relationship with your vet (in case I get ill) please contact PAWS-OK. I'd love to meet you!

Cats who test positive for FIV or Feline Leuk are not allowed to attend adoption events or be housed in PetSmart Adoption Centers.   They are welcome at our monthly Meet & Greets at A1 Pet Emporium . If you would like to meet one please contact PAWS-OK. Ready to adopt? The first step in adopting a pet from PAWS is to complete an
